About the Lab

The Roberts-Turner Lab at Children's National Research Institute advances nursing science through implementation science, healthcare innovation and workforce research that improves patient outcomes and transforms clinical practice. Our research focuses on developing, evaluating and implementing evidence-based interventions that strengthen healthcare delivery, advance health equity and improve the experiences of children, families and healthcare professionals.

Working collaboratively with healthcare organizations, academic institutions, clinicians and researchers, the laboratory translates evidence into practice through innovative educational, quality improvement and implementation science initiatives that create measurable improvements in healthcare systems.

The laboratory's current flagship research initiative, Hair For You, is a multi-organization implementation science study evaluating the impact of evidence-based education on healthcare professionals' knowledge, confidence and clinical practices related to culturally responsive hair and scalp care.
