One unit can help four to five children and all blood collected from this effort remains at Children’s National Hospital to support our patients with cancer, sickle cell disease, for surgeries and other chronic illnesses. The Genetics & Metabolism Division-Rare Disease Institute is hosting the blood drive to raise awareness about rare disease. All blood collected from this effort remains at Children’s National Hospital to support children and adults with rare genetic diseases.
